Google switching from desktop to mobile first indexing

This week Google announced it will build its primary search index based off the mobile version of a site versus the desktop version. Indexing is the process by which Google adds your dental website to its list of websites it can return for a given search. The switch to building the primary index based off of the mobile site means your mobile site will soon have more of a ranking impact than it did in the past.

It is important to note that this change will not affect our responsive websites that present the same content and search engine optimization regardless of whether you access the websites from desktop or mobile devices.

However, if you have a mobile (example: m.mydentalofficesite.com) and desktop version of a site (example: www.mydentalofficesite.com), you will need to ensure your mobile website has the same level of search engine optimization as your desktop website.

While Google has not released the date on when it is implementing this change, it is expected to come soon. As always, we’ll be monitoring traffic and rankings to ensure your sites continue to rank well through the implementation of this change.
